These backgrounds are a little bit special. They are repeating only in one direction - downwards. In the late nineties, they were made so long that they would not have to repeat horisontally in order to fill the page but nowadays this is achieved through a stylesheet. Using these backgrounds requires some familiarity with CSS. Here is how it's done. This is a typical BODY specification of a style sheet:
BODY { background: url("cxz.png") #FFFFFF repeat-y left }
Notice the underlined keywords. repeat-y tells the browser to only repeat the background downwards. left tells it to place the image in the left corner of the browser window. |
